Things He Said Today

By Joe Johnson

Happy New Year from your Beatle Brunch pals. I’d like to thank you for a wonderful year; “Thank you for a wonderful year”.  I know we live in challenging times, both financially and socially, and I appreciate all of the support you have shown The Show both as casual listeners and members of The Beatle Brunch Club.
As I look ahead to 2013, there are some very exciting events coming our way. First is our Cruise for Beatles Fans, sailing on the world’s largest luxury cruise ship, RCL’s The Allure of The Seas. Once again we’re joined by hilarious showman and amazing musician/storyteller, Mark Hudson, Ringo’s Producer for nearly a dozen albums and member of The Roundheads.  Mark, of course, has great history with Ringo, Aerosmith and Celine Dion, and tells the most hilarious stories about Ozzie. Joining us for the first time is Badfinger guitarist Joey Molland, who has a new CD coming out that he’ll share with us on board. Come and Get it!  Plus, we’ll be enjoying the company of Billy J. Kramer, who had many hits as leader of The Dakotas including one of the first Beatle covers. He promises to share fab Beatles and John Lennon stories with us.  We’re hoping to coax Mark, Joey and Billy into jamming together at one or more of our private events on board, maybe with Revolution, an amazing Beatle Band who was with us last year.  So why not come aboard?  Get in touch with Angela to book The Cruise at Music In M'Ocean. Full speed ahead Mr. Captain, full speed ahead!
As we roll up and into the new year, a reminder not to miss the January 6th Beatle Brunch Show. We’ll flash back through the highlights (and low lights) of 2012, mainly how busy Paul has been with his Kisses on the Bottom CD and all its varied versions, including his newest, Live Kisses. We’ll get into Ringo’s CD Ringo 2012 and even spotlight a live performance from Ringo and Paul that finally saw the light of day last year.  Paul, of course, has been busy with his On The Run tour, which also took him to the set of Saturday Night Live (See ARTICLES on, Ahhh The Night Before) and the amazing “12-12-12” concert (Hear a song from Paul’s set on the January 6th show and Read The News on The BBC). Sadly, we’ll mark the passing of teacher and sitar virtuoso Ravi Shankar, who passed away at age 92 on December 11th. We’ll hear some words from George.  So don’t miss THIS show. BBC members can listen on demand commercial free as often as they like and NOW, you can hear The Brunch on your phone when you “Dial Brunch”. And remember, catch “Old Brown Shows”, Beatle Brunches from our earliest days on radio 20 years back. Get details on our website,
As we look back on 2012, a most serious and non-Beatle event was, of course, the devastating day at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14th. We shed so many tears and lost so much of our innocence that day, and we’re profoundly saddened, as is the rest of the world.  We’re planning to celebrate The Children on the January 20th episode of Beatle Brunch, where we’ll play back some of the many comments and requests we’ve had from babes of The Brunch family over the years, recorded at The Fests we’ve attended and our Beatles Cruises. It’s such a joy to hear their voices of love for The Beatles, and we take them forward with us into the future as we look ahead to 2013. “The sun is out, the sky is blue, it’s beautiful and so are you - ”  See The Sandy Hook Support Fund and information to donate in the article, "Help Newtown Avoid Charity Hoaxes".

The Brunch & The Beatles Live On

By Margot Winick

Pictured is Margot's mom, Pauline (who attended The Concert for Bangladesh) with Beatle Fan nieces, Belle and Pearl.

A new year means more chances to hear Beatles music and the wonderful memories they conjure for all of us. As a longtime fan of the Beatle Brunch Radio Show, I can’t believe it took me so long to join the BBC – especially as someone who celebrates the greatest rock band of all time "any time at all."

I guess you could say I am among the “second generation” of Beatles fans, having grown up in the late ‘70s and '80s. For me, sharing the Beatles music with folks of my parents’ generation and kids of my friends’ generation always presents an opportunity to create even more memories.

Hey, next generation: “I’d love to turn you on” to the Beatles’ music. I love seeing my young nieces sing “Eight Days a Week” in karaoke, and play Beatles Rock Band, and watch the Beatles films, and stream the songs on the Internet, and hear them on the radio. I love reading about the origins of the Beatles and discovering the rich stories of their escapades, as well as of those peripheral characters who played unique roles in the phenomenon of Beatlemania. Photographs, films, books and articles like the ones I read on the BBC website help illuminate the excitement I feel about the Beatles, and the discoveries I have yet to make.  As I grow, I find I can apply more meanings to their often-enigmatic lyrics.  In countless ways and formats, The Beatles truly have captured our lives.

Lift up your hearts and sing me a song that was a hit before your mother was born.” Think of all the ways the Beatles songs and their messages have had an impact on you and your loved ones. Let’s come together and share them on our Beatles Brunch Club website, chat rooms and social media.
The Beatle Brunch Radio show has been on the air since 1992 – not a bad track record for a show broadcast on terrestrial radio, and still heard in 100 markets nationally. The show consistently opens my eyes and ears to ways I connect with the Beatles’ music. Listeners like me – and YOU – help keep the music playing, and the memories growing.
Here’s to another year of Beatle Brunch! Thank you, Joe!

He just finished writing and producing the new female rock starlet, Madame Mayhem’s album, “White Noise” available on iTunes.  She has been described as Joan Jett meets Ozzy Osbourne.  The album includes guest appearances by Earl Slick (John Lennon, David Bowie), Elliot Easton (The Cars), Rudy Sarzo (Ozzy Osbourne, Quiet Riot) and John Moyer (Disturbed, Adrenaline Mob).

Sign the Petition

Submitted by BBC'er Terry Siederer

The Beatles were inducted as a band into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. John Lennon (1994), Paul McCartney (1999) and George Harrison (2004) have been inducted as solo performers, and Sir George Martin was inducted into the non-performer category in 1999. But Brian Epstein, the man who brought the Beatles to the world, has never been included on the list of non-performers selected by the Rock Hall's Nominating Committee to be considered for induction. If you love the Beatles, and can't imagine a world without them, please sign the petition to get Brian Epstein the recognition he deserves from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Follow this link to add your name:

Perhaps The Beatle Brunch Family can persuade Martin Lewis to start a petition for Ringo's induction too!
