Bruce on the Brunch
Beatles
historian and author Bruce Spizer, who has been a frequent
guest on Beatle Brunch, has just released the 6th and final installment
on his critically acclaimed series of books on The Beatles American
records. The Beatles Swan Song: She Loves You
& Other Records covers the groups releases on
labels such as Swan, United Artists, Decca, MGM and Atco, that had
only limited rights to the Beatles recordings. The book contains
fascinating stories of how these companies scrambled to get a piece
of Beatlemania action, often employing questionable tactics and
misleading fans hungry for more Beatles product.
The book also covers the Capitol theme albums of the 70s and 80s
such as Rock N Roll Music, Love Songs
and Reel Music, as well as Rarities, The
Beatles At The Hollywood Bowl and the unreleased Sessions
LP, plus some deejay tribute and interview discs.
Bruces first book, The Beatles Records on Vee-Jay,
is sold out and is now goes for a few hundred dollars on the secondary
market. One Amazon market seller is asking over $1,000 for a copy!
Bruces Capitol books are getting close to selling out as are
the limited collectors editions of all of his titles. Those
interested in purchasing his books should do so before they are
gone.
The new Swan book as well as Bruces other writings are available
from Bruces website, www.beatle.net.
They may also be purchased from finer book stores and on-line sites.
If you order from Bruces website, you can request that he
sign or personalize the book, which hes happy to do.
Bruce
will also be publishing the highly-anticipated sixth edition of
The Price Guide for the Beatles American Records
Co-authored by Perry Cox and Frank Daniels, and edited by Spizer,
this 330-page hardcover edition contains thousands of listings of
all formats of records, tapes and CDs and over a thousand color
images! This book is a must for the serious collector as well as
anyone wishing to build a collection or wanting to know what his
or her Beatles vinyl discs, 8-tracks and cassettes are worth. It
will be issued this July. Reserve your copies before it sells out!
Advance orders will be taken through his website beginning April
16, 2007.
Listen for Bruce to appear on an upcoming edition of Beatle Brunch
to talk about his new Swan Songs book and to play some of the old
Swan songs.
