I have an American version of the album "Rarities" which, when the cover is opened, contains a print of the "Butcher Cover". I know it's not an original "Yesterday and Today" cover but it is fun to be able to see. The "Packing Case" photo used on "Yesterday and Today" is a photo that has been reversed; you can tell by their shirt buttons. The album contains "Love Me Do" with Ringo on drums, "Misery" and "There's A Place" in stereo, "Sie Liebt Dich" the German "She Loves You", "And I Love Her" with two extra guitar licks at the end, the single version of "Help!", the British version of "I'm Only Sleeping", the Capitol U.S. single version and the British stereo version of "I Am The Walrus" edited together, a stereo version of "Penny Lane" with an extra horn riff at the end, a mono version of "Helter Skelter" sans -"I've got blisters on my fingers" at the end, a mono mix of "Don't Pass Me By", George's "The Inner Light" which has never been on any U.S. album, the original version of "Across The Universe" with bird sound effects, the "Let It Be" B-side single version of "You Know My Name (Look Up My Number)" and the first release in the U.S. of the "Sgt. Pepper Inner Groove". |

Let's get back to a steaming August day in 1996. I was 7 years old. It seems strange to reflect on the 90's as a time to remember the Beatles, but it was almost 16 years since John Lennon was murdered. I had just walked into the living room and sat on the floor, the TV on PBS and since they sometimes feature rock and roll artists, this is when the Beatles Anthology came out. My dad was watching TV and I asked what, he said something about The Beatles. I turned to the TV, fixated on their accents and the music that came from the speakers of the TV. It was fascinating. I especially remember Paul, playing guitar and talking about his mum being a nurse. I correlated his mum with mine. And I heard the foghorns of the steamliners on the River Mersey. It then occured to me that my dad's mum was English and he then said that her family came from Liverpool too. I was fascinated and continued to watch. An hour later, we went out for dinner, but there was a jukebox at the restaurant we were eating at. I requested if I could hear Let It Be, and when I did, I was in heaven! I now fully appreciate the Beatles and those who know me well ask me all kinds of questions about the meaning of their songs and the lives that they led. It's kind of surreal because a lot of them think that they're talking to a hippie from 1967 but no, I'm a 19 year old girl who loves the Beatles. And you know, they do bring out the free spirit and hippie in me :) I strongly believe their song, All you Need Is Love. |

Hi Joe Johnson,
First, Dick Bartley, M.G. Kelly, Tom Kelly and Scott Shannon that I've just seen "Across the Universe. This musical story of Jude, Lucy, Max and Prudence, Sadie, Jojo, Dr.Robert and Mr. Kite is another reason to hold your hands and for columbia and revolution that he said in a song. It is a movie highmark in the lives and brilliant career of George, Ringo, John and Paul. So why do these words and music belong in the motion picture we just saw? |

Interestin' FACT I discovered whilst watching, 'Yellow Submarine'. Have a version on VHS and a copy on DVD. If one activates, 'Closed Caption' on the VHS version near the end of the song, 'Hey Bulldog', it displays John saying, "You know any songs ?" When one activates, 'Subtitles' on the DVD version, John is saying, "You know what I mean ?" A true-blue (no pun intended) Beatle fan will certainly agree that both quotes are, indeed, misquoted. For the record, John actually says, "You-kno-anymo ?" Yes, I'm PROUD to admit that I have, TONS-O'-TIME to waste ! |

During a trip to Milwaukee, my lady and I let a friend and her two kids stay at our house, her boy friend, the father of her kids, a drug addict, stole 50 of our CD's and sold them to FYE. Of course we pressed charges and he confessed. They say we'll get them all back, but I'm not sure. He really made a mess of my Beatles collection. I've already purchased the last copy of The Soundtrack to the movie Imagine from

Lol, it's hillarious what they come up with to try to convince you the Beatles' music was corrupted. They mostly picked on John (not a big surprise there, they'll never forgive his comment) and they said stuff about Paul turning to tarot cards and I never heard anything about that before. Is that true? I mean did Paul really do the tarot cards and that stuff. It also said one of them or maybe a couple of them (or maybe all) got into astrology. You know, they didn't say anything about Ringo really. Paul and John were the main victoms and then they said something about George a couple of times. A couple years ago I probly would have been mad at them but now it's just hillarious at how stupid it is. Plus the guy kept claiming he used to be a Beatles fan. After we read it we were talking about the holy tuesday or whenever it is we're supposed to go to confession and I asked if I had to go and my mom said,"No but you probly should." And my dad said, "Ya she's a Beatles fan," and I started laughing and said, "And a Harry Potter fan to boot! I wonder what he'd say if I went to confession and said that," and my dad said,"He'd probly say go home." Lol, also what's really ironic is that after I read that thing this weekend, the next day at school a boy brings a deck of tarot cards to school and tells me and Ash our future. Lol he skipped some parts with me so mine wasn't right anyway but Ash's past was REALLY close to being real and now she's obsessed with that and says she has to get her some tarot cards. Sorry I went off subject but at least it started as being Beatles related. You don't have to read the other stuff. I'm going to go catch the bus now so I'll talk to you later bye! ~Nicole~ |

He was my favorite but then I kept having dreams with Paul in them and slowly Paul became my favorite because alot of the time in those dreams I just sat and talked to him and "got to know him". That would be really neat if that's how he really is. It's odd though, before I was even a Beatles fan I had a dream with them in it. And about a year or two ago (when George was still my favorite) I had a dream that I somehow got into a room they were practicing in and I stood really close to them and sang with them, but none of them noticed me, like I wasn't even there. Except Paul. He looked at me and then he smiled and winked. That's always confused me because George was my favorite then, not Paul. Actually I think Ringo was my second favorite then too, so Paul would have been third. Lol, if it weren't for those dreams, George would still be my favorite but only by a little and I'd still love them all equally. As far as liking goes, Paul is my favorite and then the rest of them are just one notch behind. As far as love though I love them all the same and miss John and George dearly. My mom keeps saying the Beatles is just an obsession, and at first they were. It evolved though, into actual love. Lol, I'm sure I'm just repeating things you guys have felt alot, I just had my mind on that and figured since it's Beatles related...Anyway, I have to go catch the bus so good day, talk to you later. ~Nicole~ |

What is it about the Beatles? What is it that makes you want to hug them and love them forever? What is it about music too, that gives it that magical property? Music is, in a science view, just a bunch of sound waves but it makes us feel...better most of the time. I mean, I could have had a horrible day and I go home, crawl in bed, and put on some Beatles and before long I'm either completely happy or crying for a different reason. Alot of the time I start crying because I think about how I missed the whole Beatle experience, and because I start really missing John and George. When I first heard on the radio that George died, I just simply thought, "oh, that's sad," and moved on, didn't really think about it. I wasn't a Beatle fan then and now I beat myself up about that. Like he didn't even matter. I guess he didn't matter to me then but I really miss him now. |
